This well-beloved chocolate brand has been around for decades, and the park itself is no exception.

Hersheypark has brought candy lovers of all different kinds together since its founding in 1906. Whether you like Reece’s, Twizzlers, or the classic Kisses, there are plenty of activities and treats for you to enjoy! This park doesn’t simply promote their chocolate sales; they offer plenty of entertainment for everyone who visits.

Family Attractions

For the families with younger kids, Hersheypark has lots of rides that can still bring smiles to their faces without being too intense. From the carousel to the drop towers to the ferris wheel, this amusement park has a lot of rides that you can’t go wrong with. The list goes on, with swings, bumper cars, and tilt-a-whirls. They even have mini coasters such as Trailblazer and sooperdooperLooper (yes, that’s the actual name!)

At Hersheypark there are also many opportunities to learn about the history of the company that frequents many Halloween buckets. They offer a tour that takes you through the chocolate production, teaching you about everything that goes into the chocolates. There is also information about the company and it’s history along the walls of the queue, to keep you immersed while you wait.

These rides are not only to entertain children, but also those adults who don’t like the intensity of a roller coaster. Personally, I know that after a few roller coasters I am in much need of rides like these.

Roller Coasters

Now if you are more of a thrill-seeker then you definitely don’t want to miss out on the many exciting coasters found throughout the park. When I first went here I was shocked to see just how many roller coasters there were to pick from.

Each one is thrilling, fast paced, fun, and not to mention, colorful. Want a wooden coaster? Try out Comet or Lightening Racer. Looking for steep drops? Check out Fahrenheit! There are a lot of options for you, as Hersheypark has the largest roller coaster collection in the northeast!

Out of the fifteen different coasters that they offer though, my favorite has to be Wildcats Revenge. I like how it lasts for a few minutes, which is longer than most of the other coasters, and the combination of inversions and drops throughout the ride.

The Boardwalk Water Park

There is also a boardwalk section of Hersheypark for those hot summer days when you just want to cool off. The Boardwalk has a lot of entertainment as well, including water slides, tubing, and pools. The themed decorations, such as the buoy and surfboard pictured above, are fun additions to this part of the park and help one to embody that vacation feeling.

Dining

Along with the desserts you can buy, Hersheypark has great dining options. There are different cuisines, from Cuban to Italian to American food. They even offer kosher and allergen friendly places!

I am not allergic to any food, but I wanted to try the food out at Flying Fare anyways, so I ordered the gluten-free Greek wrap. This was a refreshing meal that had feta, banana peppers, olives, quinoa, tomatoes, and diced cucumbers. I felt really good after I finished it due to the clean ingredients, which doesn’t happen a lot with amusement park food. The only downside was that the wrap crumbled very easily and fell apart, making it messy.

The Sweets

Of course, I can’t go a whole article about a world of candy without talking about the actual chocolate. The park has a lot of locations with places to buy different sweets that vary in flavor. When I recently visited there was a highlight on smore flavored treats due to national smores week, which I thought was really clever and creative.

Being at Hersheypark, I had to get something sweet to eat. When I saw that outside Hershey’s Chocolate World, the largest Hershey store in the world, there was a gelato and waffle stand, I had to look at the menu. They offered three different types of gelatos served in bubble waffles; Twizzlers, Hershey’s Chocolate, and a smores flavor. I got the chocolate one and my god. It was a lot of food, with three scoops of gelato, a waffle, chocolate drizzle, and a LOT of whipped cream.

My stomach may have been really upset afterwards due to the amount of chocolate I had just consumed, but I don’t regret it. The waffle was soft and warm, and the gelato was silky and tasted delicious.

The treat was pricey, but with the amount of food you get I think the price made sense.

The chocolate brand’s fame gets even more love for these sweet treats all summer long due to Hersheypark. It helped to put Pennsylvania on the map even more so than Knoebels and Dorney Park, and for a good reason. The park has a lot of activities and events for its visitors to enjoy, from the exhilarating rides and refreshing boardwalk to the delicious food.

Hersheypark is open from 11 AM to 7 PM most days, so if you are looking for a fun day out definitely consider visiting.
